Parked page, explained

You park a name by pointing its nameservers to a parking service or a marketplace lander. A parking service shows ads matched to the name's keywords and pays you a share of the click revenue; a lander shows a Buy It Now price and an offer form. In 2025 Google told advertisers it would opt existing Google Ads accounts out of parked-domain placements by default (new accounts already were), with a way to opt back in.

For most investors the page's main job today is to sell the name, so a clean for-sale lander usually serves better than a page of ads. If you do show ads, watch them: under the UDRP, panels hold owners responsible for automatically generated links, and ads that target a trademark count as evidence of bad faith, while ads that do not trade on a trademark, such as ads tied to a generic name's dictionary meaning, are treated as permissible.

A DNS signal can sit alongside the page: RFC 10023, an informational RFC published in July 2026, defines a _for-sale TXT record that marks a domain as for sale regardless of what the page shows.

Example. A newly bought domain points to a marketplace lander that shows a Buy It Now price and an offer form instead of ads.
